Asphalt Crack Filler Calculator
Estimate theoretical crack volume, order volume, and whole containers from prepared crack dimensions. Confirm every result against the selected crack filler label.
Crack filler quantity inputs
Estimate theoretical crack volume, then compare it with the product label coverage.
Theoretical volume
1.30 gal
Order volume
1.43 gal
Whole containers
2
Purchased / leftover
2.00 / 0.57 gal
Crack filler volume formula
The calculator treats the prepared crack as a consistent rectangular channel. Actual cracks vary, so measure several locations and use the product procedure for routing, cleaning, backer material, depth limits, and application temperature.
Gallons, liters, and whole containers
The tool converts theoretical volume to gallons or liters, applies the documented allowance, and rounds up to the entered container size. It does not assume that one gallon covers a universal number of linear feet.
Crack filling versus pothole repair
Crack filler is not a substitute for repairing a cavity, failed base, or widespread fatigue cracking. Estimate bagged repair material with the asphalt patch and cold-patch calculator, or review broader treatment choices in the repair and resurfacing guide.
Product and contractor checklist
- accepted crack type and prepared width range;
- routing, cleaning, drying, primer, or backer requirements;
- maximum fill depth and application temperature;
- label coverage, packaging size, cure or cooling time, and traffic opening;
- compatibility with later sealcoat or resurfacing.
